01 October 2018 - The new global status
report on Alcohol and Health, published by WHO every 4
years, is freshly available. The European region is still
the heaviest drinking region in the world but the African
region experiences the heaviest burden of alcohol-related
disease and injury. Globally WHO projects that alcohol
consumption will increase, not decrease, we truly have a
lot of work ahead of us. Effective policies are crucial
for decreasing the harm caused by alcohol worldwide. We
call on all decision makers not to underestimate the role
evidence-based policy measures have for the health of
