Message from the President and Secretary General
Geir Gundersen, Mark Moser
Welcome and thank you for your interest in the work of the Blue Cross around the world.
Right now, as you are reading our Annual Report 2009, thousands of Blue Cross workers all over the world are deeply engaged in the task of assisting people with dependence-related problems. They have been carrying out this kind of work for almost 140 years.
What, you may ask, motivates us to continue with our work and to improve the quality of the services we provide? The answer lies in our view of the human being from the perspective of Christian beliefs and values as those beliefs and values relate to care, inclusiveness, respect, dignity and solidarity. This foundation in Christian belief leads us to take an integrated and pragmatic approach to dependence, and a drive towards more excellence and consistency in the Blue Cross work with regard to education, prevention and treatment of dependence.
